As an early pioneer of the carbon markets, Jonathan Shopley’s understanding of how carbon market instruments have developed over the last 10 years includes; what’s worked to ensure credibility and quality of carbon reductions, what should happen in the future and the requirements for business action. 

Jonathan represents The CarbonNeutral Company on the Carbon Markets and Investors Association (CMIA) and the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA).  He was founding co-chair of The International Carbon Reduction Offset Alliance (ICROA).

Jonathan joined The CarbonNeutral Company in 2001 as CEO.  For the following six years he led the Company’s evolution and expansion across Europe. In 2007 he became Managing Director, responsible for the Company’s contribution to international policy developments on climate change and standards for carbon trading and carbon offsetting.
